Opening Dance at Ahlam ('Dreams')

‘Spirals’ is a journey into the dark, beautiful and bawdy world of the Great Goddesses. Using dances from Egypt, North Africa and Hawaii (with a sprinkling of Celtic, Indian & Maori dance) and storytelling & live Arabic drumming we bring you - : Gaia the earth mother who wields a staff with which she creates and sustains all life, Bast the Egyptian Goddess of playfulness & pleasure, the dark destroyer Kali who drinks the blood of demons, Inanna who ventures to the underworld to meet her shadow self, fiery Brighid the muse and inspiration for the ancient Celts, Yemaya who symbolises the ever flowing nature of water & life, fiery volcano Goddess Pele of Hawaii and Baubo the untamed Greek Goddess who relishes smutty jokes.

LOTUS FROM THE STARS

Blue Lotus will be opening this very special evening with a collection of Middle Eastern Dances as well as highlights from our Goddess show ‘Spirals’. The evening is bringing together communities in a celebration of the Spirit of Life.
